The scarf is paper I made from loose tea. Once I cut into it I was hit by a wave of peppermint! It was a nice surprise :)
IKEA has just released a baking book called “Hembakat är Bäst” (Homemade is Best). Carl Kleiner was asked to shoot the recipes. The styling of the ingredients looks great.
Oh my god, I love this! I love how deadpan the whole concept is. I’m also really into photography that is so flat, it is almost more like an illustraiton. It’s a more wholesome, more designed take on the 37 or so ingredients in a Twinkie.
Homemade is Best
if this were a studio photo, it would make a great cover for a book about… I dunno, some kind of memoir or something.

Both of these little worlds are part of the artwork created for the most recent Chillout Sessions: a compilation disc series put together by the Ministry of Sound Australia. The diorama-like concept was developed by Collider(design by Andrew van der Westhuyzen and cinematography by Brycen Horne). They decided to switch up the packaging after the first 10 discs:
The new Sessions concept involves miniature ‘worlds’ literally creating a package holiday that has both escapism and a sense of humour. [link]
I want to shrink down to size and move into one of these miniature worlds. As a concept I LOVE this. It was executed exceptionally well; from the world construction to the photography, this is a concept pulled off in every sense. Be sure to check out the video version of each: XII XI

A wave of nostalgia came over me when I spotted this project by design student Johanna Asseraf. When tasked with the assignment of branding an event, she chose a class party from 1996, when she was eight years old. The entire brand was, amazingly, crafted using Perler Beads, which I had no idea were even made any more.
First of all: Branding for a second grade party in 1996? Brilliant. I fucking love it.
Partially because I have lately been thinking a lot about Lisa Frank and lanyard lately. Partially because I think Perler Beads are awesome and I never had them as a kid even though I really wanted them.
Maybe I’ll buy some. When I go pick up lanyard. And I’ll make coasters for my apartment and really awesome lanyard jewelry. Just you wait.

If these were done with multicolored paper, I’d be peeing myself right now

But I think mine will be made out of dollar store chinese lanterns and pinatas and cheap foil garlands… oh my god it’s going to be awesome.
Aw man, look at this!
Of course I love the whimsy and the pseudo diorama thing happening here. And the type made out of cream and cookies. But what really impresses me is how un-WebDesign this web design is.
It’s a very unconventional navigation system, but it’s every bit as legible as anything grid we’ve seen. And it ten times more beautiful

The secondary pages are more traditional, but they still feature some really cool type.

Probably the most wonderful thing I’ve seen all day! I love how the rice krispies look just like brown rice! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I am reminded of Nickelodeon Magazine. This aesthetic is surely coming back. It’s going to be the New retro, super-fly look.

Clever poster series from Leon de Korte.
